A new beginning
Margriet Seinen, renowned silk painter, beloved community artist and teacher, lost her home and nearly her life in a house fire in December of 2022. During a 2-month hospital stay, she underwent spinal surgery for injuries sustained escaping from the fire, and weeks of physical therapy to learn how to walk on her own again. Her home and studio were completely destroyed. The images you see here are the only remaining photos of Margriet’s 40 years of designing and painting that she has. Her pencil drawing designs and remaining originals are gone forever.
Now 79, Margriet’s physical recovery has been remarkable. She is in her new home, a small studio by the river. She is working with her daughter Alicia Renata and web designer Joni Godlove, to make her art available to all as prints, notebooks, and apparel. Please enjoy Margriet’s incredible paintings as you browse the pages of this site.
Many thanks to everyone who has loved and supported Margriet through this crisis. Your care is deeply appreciated.
